Muscle Suit reduces turnover rate in Nursing care industry 【Kinuta Nursing Institute】
Kinuta Nursing Institute, a nursing care facility introduced “Muscle Suit Every” to reduce employees’ burden in their tough working environment. It is said that nursing care industry has high turnover rate of 15.4% and workers quitting their job within 3 years goes up to 64% in Japan. One of the main reason is because of the physical burden that workers need to bear.
The tasks which workers feel the great burden are assisting with excrement and moving patients from bed to wheelchair. They take a lot of strength since they need slow and careful movement, which result in lower back burden.
To reduce the burden and turnover rate, the facility introduced 8 units of “Muscle Suit Every”. “The key factors for the introduction were:
① It does not use electricity therefore there is no running cost or no limited time of using. Also there is no malfunction.
② It is easy to wear. When you get use to it, it takes only 10 seconds.
③ It is durable. There is no damage when the suit hits hard objects.
These points make us use the suit everyday with ease”, a head of facility expressed.
After the introduction, not only the workers but the patients also feel comfortable since the suit’s assist power made operation very smooth. “I was not suffering with my back pain than before and that lead to the improvement of quality of service towards the patient. Another merit is that I am now able to secure more free time after work because I don’t have to go to a massage often”, a worker told us. The population of elderly is increasing which is leading to lack of workers in nursing care industry. Muscle Suit can help keep the turnover rate low in this industry and improve the working environment of the workers.
